Dolce Resa

Lary Candles is my wife's thing. She started making candles at home and her first local market went really well. As soon as she left, she told me: “Babe, you HAVE to make me a website and a video.”

The video was for her new scent, Dolce Resa, lavender and vanilla. She told me more or less what she wanted, sent me over a million Pinterest references and left the rest to me.

Lavender and vanilla is a calm scent, so the video had to be calm too. The idea was to give people a few seconds off from the rush of social media. I kept the camera slow and let the light from the window do most of the work.

It was a few days of production, but definitely not a few hours.

The original was vertical, made for the feed. She liked it so much that I had to adapt it to horizontal too.

Working for your wife comes with its own approval process. There was some negotiating, and at one point I may have called it unpaid labour. Jokes aside, she trusted me, and it all went fast with very few changes.
